Despite Germany's advances in weapons and tactics, American industrial might and the fighting spirit of Allied soldiers eventually overwhelmed the Axis Powers in each of the two World Wars. Today, however, America's heavy industry is mostly gone, and Britain has become a second-rate power stripped of its empire and its former economic strength--and the moral backbone of these two nations is in even shabbier shape than their economies.
